Reject with Reason

lng writes "I was wondering if it wouldn't be interesting to add an option for administrators to provide a reason why a certain submission has been rejected. Like many of us, I've had some rejections among my -many- submissions. Most of the time I have a clue why they've been rejected, but sometimes I do not. I think it would be great to know why a submission has been rejected. It could even be preformatted messages like: "way too short", "learn english, full of typo's" or "troll"."

  • I think it would be a good idea, at least as an added option. Some people may get offended for composing a story and having it rejected without explanation, even if there was a good reason, like it was already posted several months ago. So another choice for reasons could be "repeat story".
  • I can see doing this for a user of the system (not AC). Basically need to expand the schema. Might be best to alse use canned responces (AKA, use a drop down list of them).

You can't grep a dead tree.
  • Maybe a small text field to type a reason is possible? So if left blank, it would just operate as it does now.

Drop down list fills in (via javascript) small text field. It won't work without javascript, but then you'll have to type. I see no problem here.
  • Like the subject says, when I get rejcted story on plastic dot com, then there is reason provided.
