Dynamic META tags

Has anyone ever create a module that allows your article headings and descriptions to be written in tags at the top of your homepage ? I was planning to start figuring the best way to do it but i thought if someone else has already done it might as well use theres

  • I thought about it. the header() function would probably need to be re-written a bit so you could pass information to it. And something like article.pl, I don't know when it prints the header versus reading in the story/comment data.

    Would be a cool mod to have available to use if needed. Or, minimally, have it write different meta information to a story's .shtml file. That way search engines can pick it up easier.

  • This is on my list of things to do.

    I'm currently writing an XHTML theme for Slash, which is a process of several stages. The main two are as follows:

    1. Fix the templates to be XHTML compliant (in progress)
    2. Move as much as possible of the HTML generation out of the Perl modules and scripts and into the template system.

    You'd be amazed at how much stuff is hardcoded in the scripts, until you try to change some of it that is! I found this when working on the admin header menu, but there are plenty of othe
