dailyStuff and cron jobs

posted by CaptTofu on 09:26 AM June 21st, 2000   Printer-friendly   Email story
josemonkey writes "I recently set up a cron job that runs as my slash user, and is set to execute nightly at 4:00 AM -- No rocket science here. The cron job works fine, but I've noticed some odd behavior. Specifically, when the 'dailyStuff' script runs, the program that I'm using in my cron job is being executed again.

The program that I am running from the cron job is a shell script I have placed in my /home/slash directory -- is it possible that dailyStuff is finding it somehow? I didn't see anything in either the dailyStuff or the slashd code that indicated that it would run arbitrary code in the $datadir. I doubt the slashd process knows anything about crontab files -- does it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated."
