just to say I did not drop translation; I just had some important business meetings recently :-)
French plugins now install correctly. I will post a tar.gz soon on SF.
Next I will update to Slash2.2 and enter testing.
Don't worry, it will be long, now...

[UPDATE] Today I uploaded a new tar file to sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/slash-french/).
It has the slashcode-fr theme and plugins translated to french, ready for Slash 2.2.2

Again, this is not a really usable release : lots of template bugs, translation flaws, english button names and field values.

Now I will enter testing to deliver a clean version.

I have posted on sourceforge the initial release of my translation effort.

I have begun testing; This release seems to be mildly buggy, its main problem being files encoded in DOS ASCII (CR/LF) rather than Unix ASCII. Convert the files (use dos2unix) before installing the theme, or the import will break.

There is real need for plugin trnaslation (Admin, Search): currently I get a mix of english and french on my test site.

Also, I will try and test translating as much button names and field values as possible.

I would recommend to wait for a cleaner and more complete release, which should come out in the next weeks.

Slash-french project opened on sourceforge

Well I decided to follow Alessio's steps, since I believe theme localization should be a global project.

I have setup a "slash-french theme" project with a structure similar to "slash-italian theme".
It's empty right now. Don't expect much news until 2 weeks. Unless some decently speaking french guy wants to volonteer and speed up the process...

BTW, Slash 2.2.0 is my target version.

yeah, well things happen. It looks like I won't have the excuse of my job to play with Slash anymore :-(

Meaning the french theme translation job will be further delayed. Good thing the Slash guys released 2.2.0; if it lives as long as 2.0.0, I won't have to chase for updates.

Anyone interested into developing a resume plugin :-) ???

I installed it successfully (and quite easily). Search the site for 'powerpc' and you'll find a thread of discussion to which I added a new comment which is a bit more detailed.
