An Install Guide for Debian

posted by Krow on 12:41 AM May 9th, 2002   Printer-friendly   Email story

Even though there isn't a Slash package in Debian's archive, I wanted to take advantage of Debian's package management capabilities without having to compile Debianized software. I kept a journal of my attempt, and it has since been transformed into an install guide.

The Debian Slash Installation, for Debian Linux 3.0 "woody", can be found at the following location:

http://www.openflows.org/~colan/docs/debian-slash. html

I've based this guide on a single install, so it might still need some work. Please send me feedback! I hope that you find it useful.

  • This is very handy. Thanks. I especially appreciate the inventory of Debian package names that correspond with the necessary Perl libraries. Hopefully a Debian package for Slash won't be too difficult for someone to come up with.

    • There actually used to be one (I imagine it is quite out of date now).
