Success on OpenBSD

posted by Krow on 11:34 PM March 6th, 2002   Printer-friendly   Email story
Just thought you would like to hear. Slashcode is running fine on OpenBSD. I have a 3.0 system and mod_perl from the ports. Nothing fancy.
The only strange thing is that "make && make install" does _not_ work. If you just tell it to "make install" it will work. Sorry, it's a couple of days ago, I don't have any error logs left.

  • I've been able to get Slash going on OpenBSD 3.0 as well, but there is one problem I'm having with MySQL, maybe someone here can give me some advice?

    Every few days or so (it ranges from 3 to 5 days), I get the following error in slashd.log:

    ...

    Thu Mar 7 00:43:02 2002 open_backend.pl begin

    DBD::mysql::st execute failed: Can't create/write to file '/var/tmp/#sql3526_1_5c8.MYI' (Errcode: 9) at /usr/local/libdata/perl5/site_perl/i386-openbsd/Sl ash/DB/Utility.pm line 260.

      Hey, I've got the same problem. I'm developing a mysql database and this is really slowing down my work. I've also been looking around to see what could be causing this and the best that I've come up with is that the OS is running out of file descriptors. That seems to make sence to me but I don't know how to fix it. On mysql's site (5.4.7 How MySql Opens and Closes Tables) it suggests messing with the table_cache, max_connections, and max_tmp_tables. Read up on it and let me know if you find anything out. I'm still trying to figure it out (but I'm getting closer!!) hope this helps. You can reach me at scotthibbard@hotmail.com
