Ignore this. The plugin's changed so much since then (because of the recurring event stuff, add'l authors, etc) that you'd be wasting your time messing with the tarball from december.
I've been eagerly watching this plug-in too. I really liked what I initially saw. Does it pull from specific stories to gather the date links?
I've been considering just making an "events" section with a corresponding slashbox on the homepage. I wonder how much of a pain it would be to get events ordered by date (actually by title, since the title would be the date)? Maybe make a cgi script to create rss data from a section then link it to a portald box?

No, it pulls from all stories.
Basically, you set a min and max date range that the calendar uses. (ie 01/01/1999 and 12/30/2005, as an exmple) After that, it can pull the following data into it:
Calleria::Events Slash::Stories Slash::Journal s Slash::Classifieds Slash::Trails
To see it in action:
http://mtb.lottadot.com/calendar.pl
It auto-creates small slashbox-calendars for each section, and also makes an 'upcoming events' box for each section as well.
Although the event code isn't done, the rest of it is. I'm hoping to put up a tarball later this week for all to play with. If you're interested, drop me a note.
