I can't really see pointing to Slashdot unless the introtext of their story makes a really important point about the Fortune article. After all, one of the reasons weblogs link to each other is to send each other traffic, and Slashdot does OK without links from smaller weblogs.
On the other hand, if your site is trying to build an audience in the non-corporate end of the Linux community, those people will probably appreciate a link to Slashdot more than a link to the original article.
