Although most slashsites are organized in
a "traditional" way, the Slash engine is very
powerful and can be used in very different ways.
For example, discussions can be standalone and separated from stories: I've created a discussion at
http://slashcode.com/comments.pl?sid=1283 [slashcode.com]
without any super-power.
You can arrange "discussions" for each topic and leave them as open forums. I don't think they will expire, or you raise the archival timeframe.
So there's no way to selectively mark stories set to expire, but discussion are not, or seletively per discussion... etc etc w/o either changing the schema or writing a task to constantly re-open X based on criteria Y.
Slash can do much more... (Score:2)
