    My problem was that I had used slashcode's instructions for building Apache, and this left me with an httpd binary without shared object support. I then couldn't figure out how to either add it and use mod_gzip.so, or add mod_gzip statically. End result is that I am planning on adding a frontend httpd service which proxies to a back end slash apache server which hosts my site,but the frontend server does the mod_gzip...

    That's the plan anyway. Now hurry up NTL, I want my broadband internet....
