What is (and how it's) displayed can be altered in main;hof;default.
The number of items is (Stock 2.2.5 Slash/Hof-Plugin) controlled via hardcoded 'LIMIT x' directives appended to the SQL-statements in Slash/DB/MySQL/MySQL.pm
(countStories(), countStoriesTopHits(),...)

funny, there's a brightness dial on the monitor, but the users don't get any smarter
Here is the thing, it is now very easy to follow CVS. Why is this? Because we now keep an upgrades file that shows what you need to do. The thing is, it was started midway between the last release and what we currently using. Basically, someone needs to document the first changes we made. Would this be hard? Probably not to be honest.
Following CVS is pretty easy at this point. There are several sites that now do it.
That's great, I just hope this doesn't mean neglecting proper releases: there are people who prefer to integrate changes at fixed times or who need (like me for Slash-Italian) to merge releases into their own themes and projects.
I believe merging from CVS shouldn't become the main way to update Slash.

To be honest it needs to be removed from the dist and we need to give it out as a seperate plugin. We did a little talk about that today.

On a non related subject, how hard is it to go from the current release of slash to the CVS version? Is it safe? stable? Lots of changes?
